Junior IT Systems Engineer, Databases & Infrastructure
About the Role and Team:
We’re looking for a Junior IT Systems Engineer to join our Data Services team within the Infrastructure department.
The team is responsible for the databases, messaging systems, and other data infrastructure that support our product development teams. As part of the team, you’ll help keep these systems reliable, secure, and running smoothly while learning from experienced infrastructure and database engineers.
This role could be a great fit if you already have some hands-on experience with databases, Linux, or infrastructure and want to grow your skills while working with large-scale, complex systems.
You’ll join a team split between Vilnius and Warsaw, surrounded by experienced engineers who are ready to share their knowledge and support your growth.
We hope you are ready to change the game! Be ready to:
Learn to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot large-scale database and data infrastructure.
Take ownership of selected technologies over time, initially focusing on Hadoop and Vertica.
Work with database and messaging technologies and help keep critical systems reliable and available.
Handle configuration, maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, and day-to-day operational tasks.
Investigate technical issues and work towards solutions rather than simply executing incoming requests.
Collaborate closely with developers and other Infrastructure teams to understand their needs and find the right technical solutions.
Use scripting, including Python where relevant, to simplify and automate operational tasks.
Learn from production incidents, initially by observing and supporting experienced engineers before gradually taking greater responsibility.
Use AI tools as part of your technical work to explore solutions, automate tasks, troubleshoot, document, and accelerate your learning.
Attitude First. Everything else will follow. We can grow together faster if you have:
Hands-on experience with infrastructure, databases, or similar technical environments.
A basic understanding of Linux and core database concepts, with practical exposure to at least one database technology.
Some scripting experience with Python, Bash, or similar, and an interest in using automation to make repetitive tasks easier.
Curiosity about infrastructure, databases, and how complex systems work, with a mindset of exploring the “why” behind technical problems.
An interest in using AI tools practically and thoughtfully for troubleshooting, automation, experimentation, and learning.
A structured, analytical approach to unfamiliar technical challenges and the initiative to explore possible solutions.
The confidence to ask questions, collaborate with other technical teams, and gradually take greater ownership as you grow in the role.
Good written and spoken English.
Adform‘s guiding principles ingrained in your profile: Focus on Client Value, Behave with Decency, Take Ownership, Care, Collaborate as a Team Player, Remain Ambitious, and Stand Tall in all interactions
Stand out by having:
Previous experience in Infrastructure, Systems Administration, Database Administration, DevOps, Production Support, or a similar technical environment, including exposure to Linux-based systems.
Hands-on experience with databases and data infrastructure, such as PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, Vertica, Hadoop, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
Experience using automation, AI, or infrastructure tools to troubleshoot, automate tasks, experiment, or improve how you work.
